Medicine Policy: Discovery Island will only administer medicine prescribed
by a doctor. A note must accompany the request form stating the child is not contagious. We will no longer give Tylenol, Moltrin
or any other over the counter medicines including cough medicine. If your child has a fever we will remove the child from
the class and contact the parents for pick-up. The giving of medicine is a liability issue that we no longer wish to take.
Fast Food Policy: Please do not bring fast food or soft drinks after 7:00 A.M. You can still send a bag lunch,
but not fast food. Children have a difficult time understanding why her friend is eating McDonalds and she/he cannot.
Party Policy: Birthday Parties are fun. Parent’s often like to bring a special snack for the
class on their child’s birthday. This is allowed if arrangements have been made with your child’s teacher. However,
cupcakes are not allowed. Cupcakes are difficult for children to eat and often ends up in a huge mess. The icing can stain
clothing, and for this reason, cupcakes will not be allowed. Suggestions: Cookie Cake, Rice Crispy Treats or Cookies.
Remember
when bringing food to Discovery Island, we are a nut free center due to children with life threatening allergies. Including
Peanut Butter, Granola Bars and other nut based products.
