Communication
Discovery Island Learning Center values communication between parents, teachers,
and directors during this period of rapidly emerging skills. Your child will eagerly greet you with pride
as they excitedly share and point out daily projects and accomplishments.
Discovery Island Learning Center's curriculum
serves as the foundation for later learning during Kindergarten and Elementary years. Research shows that from Toddler
to Pre-K, children learn more than the rest of their life combined.

Rosters & Daily Schedules
A classroom roster and daily schedule will be posted outside of each classroom. This will help you understand what
your child is doing throughout the day.

Parent Information Center
A Parent Information Center is located in your child's classroom or right outside the classroom door. This
is an area for teachers to post a Monthly Calendar/Newsletter, special notices, and upcoming events. You should check
this regularly. Ask your teacher for the location in your child's classroom.

Daily Report Sheets
Each day your child will bring
home a "Daily Report Sheet". This form will let you know the daily activities accomplished, your child's
behavior, what your child ate, and how your child slept. Toddlers and Early Learners will also include potty times and
diaper changes. Teachers may also add notes about special upcoming events. This sheet is a great tool for
you to use when discussing the day with your child.

Monthly Calendars & Newsletters
Teachers want to inform you of their classroom activities. Each month you will recieve a calendar and a newsletter
of upcoming events. Post these in your house to help you and your child prepare for special activities.

From the Director:
Parent Handbook
When you register, you will receive a Parent
Handbook filled with our policies and procedures. This is a great tool that will answer any questions that may arise
while you are attending Discovery Island.

Reminder Notes
During
busy times, a director will send out reminder notes of upcoming events and projects. These notes will explain each event
in detail.
|
|
Director's Notes
Director's notes will also inform you of policies and procedures that are in question or added to the parent
handbook.
|
|
Financial Statements
Financial Statements are sent out on Wednesdays with balance information. If you have an overdue or late balance,
you will be notified on this form. You can see a director with any questions.

Bad Weather or Cancelations
Any Bad weather or cancelations will be posted on KAIT, 104.9 FM, and emailed to the addresses we have.
