What's Happening this Month

Thank you for helping us reach our Make-a-Wish goal of $5,000. Because of your generosity, Make-a-Wish Midsouth will be able to grant a wish for a child with a life-threatening illness.

2017 tax information is now available upon request. We do not provide a form but will happily provide a card with your amount paid and our Tax ID. Simply ask any director or give us a call to get your card!

With flu season in full swing, please be reminded that if a child is sent home from school sick for any reason, he or she must be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning. Our teachers are cleaning and sanitizing frequently throughout the day to keep away as many germs as possible!

At the end of the month we will be celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss with schoolwide events. Buildings 1 & 2 will have special snacks and stories throughout the week. Buildings 3 & 4 will travel to different classrooms throughout the week to experience Dr. Seuss-themed crafts, songs, books, and snacks. This is an exciting experience each year-be watching your chid's cubby for more detailed information.

Parent Policies and Reminders

Closed-Toe shoe policy

For the safety of our students, please make sure to send your child in tennis shoes or other closed-toe shoes. Crocs, Keens, Chacos, and other sandals are not allowed.

ID Policy

Please remember that whoever is picking up your child should always have a photo ID available. These are used when there is a new teacher, a substitute, or an unfamiliar adult picking up. All IDs will be checked against the classroom's pick-up list.

Outside food Policy

Discovery Island is a peanut- and tree nut-free facility. If you are bringing in any food please check the label to ensure compliance with this policy.

Children are expected to eat breakfast daily before arrival. Absolutely no fast food is allowed and any other breakfast food must be kept in a cubby until the next meal or snack time.

We love to celebrate birthdays but ask that if you would like to bring a treat that it be a cookie cake or healthy snack such as fruit or gummies. Cakes and cupcakes are not allowed.

TOys from home

Please limit toys and accessories brought from home to one soft toy for naptime. Hard toys are not allowed at naptime and toys from home are not used throughout the day. We ask that you leave these in the car when dropping off to avoid upsetting the children more than necessary.
